Mario Valle Reyes

Co-Founder & Managing Partner, Altered Ventures

Boasting over 24 years of experience in the gaming sector, Mario Valle Reyes is widely recognized as a pioneer in the Latin American video game industry and a global advocate for entrepreneurship and investment in emerging markets.

In 1998, Mario co-founded Atomix, the first multiplatform gaming magazine in Latin America, and in 2002, he co-founded the Electronic Game Show (EGS), which was then one of the world’s largest consumer gaming events. EGS continues to be held in Mexico 20 years later, attracting more than 50,000 visitors.

Mario joined Electronic Arts (EA) in 2006, one of the world’s leading video game companies. He first established and led operations and strategies for Latin America before relocating to EA’s headquarters in Silicon Valley after 2010, where he served as the Director of Business Development for Emerging Markets.

In 2016, Mario left EA to create Altered Ventures, a hybrid investment fund exclusively targeting the video game industry and related sectors, such as esports and independent game developers. The fund invests in all digital platforms, with a particular emphasis on VR/AR.

After becoming a public markets investor in 2010 and using his experience as a successful trader, Mario launched “InvestorCamp” in 2018, an investment education initiative aimed at bridging the regional gap in training novice stock market investors. Over 6,000 individuals from Latin America have participated in an InvestorCamp program.

A committed mentor, angel investor, stock portfolio manager, and speaker with expertise in business, entrepreneurship, and new technologies, Mario is also the author of “Manage Your Passion: Latin America 2050 – One Gamer at a Time” (2013). Furthermore, he co-founded and co-hosts “Mundo Futuro,” a top technology podcast in Mexico and LATAM.
