Carles began his career in IT in 1990 at Grupo Steria, later joining Siemens Nixdorf as the Director of the Technology Consulting Unit for financial entities. He served as the Director of Siemens’ technology services business for Latin America and was the technical lead in the founding team of extendnow, a Siemens subsidiary and one of the first European startups with online presence in the security sector.
In 2006, he joined Banco Sabadell (Spain), where he held various positions including Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, and Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure, he led a total of seven acquisition processes involving other banks and savings institutions in Spain, as well as the launch of Banco Sabadell Mexico and Sabadell Bank in Miami, USA.
In 2015, he became Chief Information Officer at TSB Bank in the UK, where he oversaw the migration of all TSB’s technological systems to a new platform over nearly five years. This project involved more than 2,000 engineers and had a cost exceeding £500 million.
In 2020, Carles returned to Banco Sabadell as Chief Technology Officer, culminating a journey that began in 2006 with the launch of online banking, achieving over 11 million customers across more than 14 countries and 26,000 employees, resulting in a growth of over 500% for the bank.
He holds a Master’s degree in e-Commerce from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and is a Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Carles enjoys motorsports, football, automatic watches, and American football. He is originally from Barcelona, Spain, and has two children: Ariadna and Arnau.
