Co-Founder, Capital Oriental
Jaime Miller is a certified public accountant with a degree from the University of the Republic of Uruguay and an MBA from IEEM, the University of Montevideo’s business school. Since 2003, he has had a significant career at Zonamerica, Uruguay’s leading business and technology park established in 1990. Jaime served as Commercial Manager from 2005 and became the first non-family CEO in 2009, a role he held until 2018. He spearheaded the establishment of Zonamerica in Cali, a USD 30 million investment with Colombia’s Carvajal family, and served as CEO of Zonamerica Colombia from 2018 to 2020. He has recently returned to Zonamerica as a board advisor.
From 2020 to July 2021, Jaime was appointed by the Uruguayan government to lead Uruguay XXI, the investment and export promotion agency, where he helped implement the Uruguay Audiovisual Program, which incentivizes audiovisual productions in the country.
Before his time at Zonamerica, Jaime worked six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in auditing, managed a family-owned distribution company for nine years, and co-founded a domestic airline in Uruguay, financing two new aircraft worth USD 3 million.
Currently, he is a co-founder and partner at Capital Oriental, a consulting and investment firm focused on projects with positive environmental and social impacts. In its first three years, Capital Oriental structured USD 9 million in investments across six projects, including the IPO of Zorzal Inversiones Tecnológicas S.A. on the Montevideo Stock Exchange, marking the first stock issuance in the Uruguayan capital market in eight years.
An avid squash and golf player, Jaime served on the Board of Directors of the Uruguayan Golf Association from 2020 to 2024 and led the Chimont Golf School at the Cerro Golf Club for five years, providing opportunities through golf for children in vulnerable neighborhoods in Montevideo.
