José Guilherme Reis served as the Executive Director for Brazil and Suriname at the Inter-American Development Bank. Previously, he worked for 14 years at the World Bank, where he held various positions, the last being Manager of Global Trade and Competition. Before joining the World Bank in 2004, he was Secretary of Economic Policy at Brazil’s Ministry of Economy (2001–2002) and Head of the Economic Council at the Ministry of Planning and Budget (1999–2001).
He also led numerous studies on trade, competition, and economic growth in countries across different regions of the world, including Latin America, Africa, Central and South Asia, and Europe.
José Guilherme Reis holds a master’s degree in economics and public finance from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
